Interior Design Logistics in Arizona: A Day with a High-End Moving Crew
Whether you’re searching for a high-end moving company for yourself, or are an interior designer in need of one, you might be curious about what a day on a project looks like. Here’s a peek into the perspective of the moving crew and the interior design process.
The Designer & The Moving Crew
The interior designer orders the products that their customers will need, which then get shipped to FLD’s door. Once products arrive, they go through a sophisticated receiving process and get entered into our internal database.
When an interior designer is ready, they log into the database and fill out a request. After selecting all the items they’ll need, an email is generated to go to our scheduling team so they can get it all on the calendar. From there, our office will make a phone call two to three days prior to check if there are any last-minute items that will be hitting our dock.
Either way, our warehouse staff pulls the necessary products from our racks, goes into the dock area and gets it all loaded onto trucks. Our team leads then call the designer when they’re en route to the final destination, so they have a 30 minute heads up prior to the arrival.

When we get there, our team does a thorough walkthrough. This is usually our second or third time onsite at the project, so we’re already familiar with the best access points to get all the products in. Then, they label all the rooms with painting tape so the boxes and furniture are taken to the exact rooms in which they’ll be needed. This saves the designers from having to stand there all day and say where each piece goes.
From there, our movers take the items into the rooms, unwrap or unpackage them and start to work hand-in-hand to get exact placement. The rugs are put in first, then the furnishings and then they start to filter in all the boxes that hold all the accessories, etc. Every single one is labeled to a specific room as well. Once the furniture is set and placed, the accessories go out. Finally, the art goes in last. It gets located exactly where the designer wants it on the wall.
Leaving it Better Than Expected
Once everything is set up, all the trash is removed and loaded into boxes. There’s a final walk-through with the designer, during which time we do any final tweaks we need to and clean up the space to immaculate condition.
Our interior designers and their clients are always floored by the quality of the high-end moving experience we deliver. If you’re looking for local movers, come and see what differentiates us.
